Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I take a tax deduction for the computer that I donate to Westchester PC-Renew?
A: Yes

 

Q: Are there minimum standards for a computer that I donate?
A: Yes, at least an Intel Dual Core or AMD Athlon X2 Processor and was likely sold as a Windows 7 or Windows 8 system.……go to Contact page for details.

 

Q: What if my computer doesn’t work?
A: This is not a problem, We make every effort to repair donated computers.

 

Q: What happens to my PC after I bring it to Westchester PC Renew?
A: A donor receives a tax donation letter.  The hard drive is erased to Department of Defense standards.  The hardware is evaluated and repaired. Then a new operating system is installed on the machine.

 

Q: What happens to my PC after it’s been refurbished?
A: The newly refurbished computers are given to not-for-profit organizations.

 

Q: Will Westchester PC-Renew repair my computer for me?
A: No, we do not repair computers for individuals.  Our mission is to provide refurbished computers to not-for-profit organizations and other charities.

 

Q: Does Westchester PC-Renew charge for the computers that it donates to individuals & organizations?
A: No, not at this time.
